Hello!

Wanted to show I'm still here! In fact I visit DA at least thrice a day, despite my apparent lack of activity. I hadn't realized my last journal entry was in FEB! Wow.

I'm sure you've all heard this before, but I do have several ideas that are itching to be put on paper (figuratively speaking, as I do most of my works on my laptop). Expect an influx of deviations around Christmastime, when I actually have TIME to draw!

Which of my styles do you prefer? (Poll) + help!!

OK the more I look at my Gaston deviation [link] the more I HATE THAT DAMN WOLF!!!!!

Help! Should I:
a. leave it alone and just move on with my life
b. re-draw the wolf (tips and suggestions helpful)
c. do an ENTIRELY different background (suggestions?)

Sorry I keep "polling" you guys in my journals. One of these days I'll get a subscription! I won it as a prize the last time.

Anyway, I realized I am so stupid all along because I always wondered where I could get feedback and suggestions for my art, and then like, DUH! MY WATCHERS! Wonderful people who stuck by me and gave comments and critiques and basically helped me grow as an artist! And now to bed I go, for it is 3am and I have class in the morning.

Because I am poor and have no subscription and therefore no access to polls, I am polling you guys here! Hopefully at least 5 people will answer!

Which of my styles do you like best (main reason for watching me)?

  1. My original style: cartoons with outlines and bold shadowing [link] [link] [link]

  2. My new style: cartoons with NO outlines and smudgy shadowing [link] [link] [link]

  3. I miss your pencil portraits! [link]

  4. Style doesn't matter, as long as it's Harry Potter

  5. Style doesn't matter, as long as it's Disney

  6. Style doesn't matter, I watch you for your humor [link] [link] [link]

  7. Some combination of the options above (comment please!)

Would be nice to have some feedback :) I'm not going to change my style based on what people tell me, but I AM curious about which aspects you guys believe I am best at and which I need improvement on!

Deviation Ideas (+ my butt)

After one entire year of nearly zero inspirations (2008 was bad for me, artistically speaking), I am suddenly hit with a TON of ideas! Too bad it is in the middle of the term, and I have a ton of other "important" things to do, like school and looking for a job, pfffft!!! :movingon:

I have 3 ideas in my mind right now. The first of course, is to continue my Disney (insert future series name) series. I was able to squish two drawings in last week, Hades [link] and Gaston [link] and I promise more will come. Name change will likely occur the same time as the next deviation.

The second thing I am planning to work on is based on an idea that came to me the other day. It was completely spontaneous and random and out-of-the-blue, the way my better ideas normally come up (see Friends [link] , What If? [link] and Sparkly Vampire [link]). For some reason, the works which I put a lot of (too much) effort into conceptualizing end up being less funny. Oh well. Hint about this one: Harry Potter-related, OMG how original I cannot believe it Mae I never knew you were a Harry Potter fan! :o

Idea three is not really an idea, but more of a challenge for myself I guess. I've been getting into my outline-less cartoons for a while, and I thought it was about time I tried doing something more "realistic" again, such as Favourite Girls [link] .

Hmm...whas this journal really an update on my new ideas, or simply a cunning way of forcing you guys to view my older ones again? A technique frequently employed by washed-up has beens...No one shall ever know...Wahaha...

----

Sorry, I had to add this in.

I actually got a couple of complaints from my friends and my mom, of all people, that I drew my own ass to big in my deviantID. See, in reality I am a shapeless twig, and I suppose I was being a little ambitious by drawing myself with curves. Voting time! Should I make my butt smaller in my ID or should I just keep it? I mean after all, isn't the Internet the place where you post false conceptions of yourself?

"Disney Bitches" name change suggestions

I really don't like the name "Disney Bitches". It sounds so wrong and it doesn't flow nicely on your tongue at all! Plus, I don't feel it reflects what the series is about, which is the transformation of male villains into sexy women. "Bitches" makes it seem like the animals are more of the focus (ex. Cerberus or the wolf, rather than Hades or Gaston) rather than the persons. If I were a random deviant and I saw that title, I would think it was a series about Disney ANIMAL villains (ex. Sher-Kan, Scar, Cera)! I don't like saying it out loud either because it sounds so....obscene. Not to mention, my 11-year-old sister saw my works and asked me, "Who's next for Disney Bitches?" and I just wanted to clamp her mouth and say, "DON'T SAY THAT! THAT'S A BAD WORD!"

So, if anyone has suggestions for a new title, leave them in the comments please! If I find one that I like and accurately describes the series, I will likely change the series name. Naturally, I'll give credit to you.

On another note, I finally finished Inkdeath last night, the concluding book of the Inkworld series by Cornelia Funke. Her stories are generally very good, but somehow I'm never quite satisfied with the endings she gives her characters. Another thing is that she writes in German, so everything of hers which I have read are English translations. For the Inkworld series, I wish they had chosen a different translator...she uses the phrase "all the same" WAY to much (ex. All the same, he decided to go inside) and it distracted me a lot every time I read it! The translation is also ambiguous at times, so I get confused about who is doing what (ex. Fenoglio and Mo turned around at the same time. He gasped. --> Who gasped? Fenoglio or Mo?). But all in all, the story is very good! Great timing for me to have finished it too, since Inkheart (the movie) just came out!

Well that's it for today's procrastination. I suppose I better get started on my Government and Business reading now. Gross.

How do you do that??? Like the headers and the footers and changing the background color and stuffs? How?? I mean I know how to put a header by hosting in imageshack/photobucket and then using the url, but then I need to measure the width of the journal to make the header fit...then when I view my own account in a different monitor, the header is not the right size because different monitors have different widths. Get what I mean? How do I make my header follow the width of the journal automatically? How do I change font style and color and make bg? Why am I so pathetic help plz :(

oh and while you guys are being nice and helping me out, how do I post deviations with transparent bg so that I don't need to deal with bg's anymore?
