pearl fever addict

This is what I look like in work! Damn I'm addicted to bubble tea. It's so unhealthy but so good! It doesn't help that employees get their drinks for free! Some of my pants don't fit me anymore!

For those who don't know what bubble tea is:

Bubble tea basically comes in 3 ways (at least in Pearl Fever, where I work), and each way has many, many flavours. First is milk tea, which is the standard bubble tea. It's flavoured powder mixed with milk and tea, and it tastes sooo very good (taro milk tea, honeydew milk tea, chocolate milk tea). Second is green/black tea, which is basically just flavoured iced teas (strawberry green tea, lemon green tea, etc). The third kind is not even bubble tea at all, but we make them anyway cuz they're so popular: smoothies! Yum! Kiwi smoothie and banana smoothie rocks my socks!

What distinguishes bubble tea from other typical juice or smoothie or slushie stores is PEARLS! Pearls (which are not the same as bubbles, although people misconceive them as so), are these little black tapioca balls (bigger than a pea but smaller than a marble) that we add to the drinks! They don't really taste like anything, but are chewey and make the drink much more fun! Most people don't bother buying bubble tea when we are out of pearls.

Other alternatives to pearls are coconut jelly (small pieces of sweet, chewey, white, semi-transparent squares), mango/star jelly (chewey, star-shaped, mango-flavoured chunks), pudding (smushed), grass jelly (for those who speak tagalog, it's gulaman), and red bean (super-sweet red beans that are usually in part of chinese deserts).
